Available Resources
With the growth of the AEMRC we are continually adding infrastructure to support the activities of affiliated faculty. If you have specific needs that are not currently included please contact the AEMRC Office. We can assist you in finding resources through other University or outside sources.
Funding Identification
If you are looking for study funding you should discuss this with the AEMRC Office staff. We have established interactions with funding agencies and will assist you in identifying funding related to specific areas of interest.
Writing
Successful grant normally entail a collaborative process involving multiple sources. The AEMRC Office will help identify potential collaborators and will also provide direct writing support in areas of their expertise.
Editing and Reviewing
The text of the document should be to AEMRC standards and addresse the goals of the funding agency. The AEMRC Office will review or help you arrange a review of your grant for content, grammar, style and compliance with the funding agency’s specifications. This process is time consuming and we would urge you to discuss the timetable with us well in advance of any deadlines.
Budget
The faculty and staff in the AEMRC Office are experienced in developing budgets to meet the needs of specific funding agencies. There are templates that have been developed to make this process much easier and to assure that you do not forget to include a critical element. This process should also be done as early as possible.
University Approval and Submission
All grants must obtain approval by the Department, the College of Medicine and the Vice-President’s Office of Research. This process can be handled by the AEMRC staff with adequate notice.
Many funding agencies, particularly federal, now require electronic grant submission. This process is new and complex. We would strongly recommend that you arrange for this process through the AEMRC Office if your grant requires it.
For both internal approval and electronic submission you should contact the AEMRC Office early in your development timeline.
Nurse Research Coordinator (Tucson and Phoenix)
The AEMRC has access to Nurse Research Coordinators to oversee both the consent process and the clinical oversight of a study. This service is available in both Tucson, Phoenix and for specific rural hospitals in our AZNETT network. For funded studies this service should be included in the budget. For unfunded studies approved through the Seed Grant Program this service will be available on a study by study basis.
Funds to Support Clinical Prescreening (see policy)
The AEMRC has a program to support the efforts of faculty, residents and staff for clinical trial prescreening of patients. A copy of that policy can be downloaded below. If you are interested in using these funds you should discuss your needs with the AEMRC Office.

The AEMRC has office space at the College of Medicine in Phoenix. This space will evolve and include additional support staff in the future but if this space could enhance your study you should include a request on the indicated section of the application and discuss the options with the AEMRC Office staff.
Dry or Wet Lab Space
The AEMRC has both wet and dry laboratory space immediately adjacent to the Faculty Office Building on Warren Ave. If your study requires such space you should include that request on the indicated section of the application.
